About the Role
We’re seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant / Bookkeeper to oversee and maintain accurate financial records for a restaurant management company that operates multiple Taco Boy locations. This position plays a key role in ensuring timely reporting, accurate payroll and reconciliation processes, and operational support across all restaurants.

You’ll join an accounting team of three (Controller + two Accountants/Bookkeepers) and work closely with our operations leaders. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is ready to grow within an organization that values both precision and people.

Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Reporting
  • Perform general cost accounting and related duties to maintain financial accuracy.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss reports.
  • Post journal entries, code invoices, reconcile accounts, and close monthly books.
  • Maintain general ledger integrity and ensure compliance with GAAP principles.
  • Prepare and process annual 1099 forms for vendors.
  • Support annual audit preparation and respond to auditor inquiries.
Payroll & Reconciliation
  • Process payroll for multiple restaurant locations.
  • Reconcile POS to general ledger, bank accounts, accounts payable, and payroll accounts.
  • Verify deposits, cash disbursements, and vendor payments.
Operations & Systems Support
  • Collaborate with operations leaders to provide financial insights and resolve discrepancies.
  • Manage purchasing and invoicing systems.
  • Conduct new manager admin training and provide ongoing accounting system support.
  • Coordinate with software vendors (e.g., Restaurant365) to maintain system functionality and recommend updates or improvements.
Compliance & Analysis
  • Monitor and analyze cash flow to support business decisions.
  • File tax forms and reports with federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Maintain knowledge of current accounting standards and industry best practices.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • 3–5 years of accounting or finance experience (restaurant or hospitality experience strongly preferred).
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel: pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas).
  • Experience with Restaurant365 ERP highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of cash basis and GAAP accounting.
Soft Skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with a problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive, collaborative attitude that aligns with Taco Boy’s hospitality culture.
Work Schedule & Location
  • Standard hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST, Monday through Friday.
  • Occasional after-hours support during close periods or system updates.
  • Remote work available for candidates based in Charleston, SC; Charlotte, NC; Asheville, NC or surrounding areas. 
  • Quarterly travel may be required for in-person team meetings.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary Range: $50,000 – $65,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

Compensation: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
